Climate change affects the cities people inhabit, however, a growing proportion of urban dwellers lack an understanding of climatic concerns in their cities until crisis strikes. This hinders communication between stakeholders during crisis prevention. In Singapore, this needs to be addressed to improve the quality of dialogue on rising sea-levels and better understand public sentiments for better planning. How can you contribute?
As NOPA, our aim is to improve the dialogue on rising sea levels between stakeholders by building a system and product that helps halt public information overload and misinformation. Our product, a digitized totem, displays a summary of observations and sentiments collated from the public. It uses proximity-based data and curated visuals to show information, and third-party data-based storytelling to engage the community in tracking climatic observations. It will serve users as an interactive public structure using our virtual platform to connect users to their environment. By understanding public sentiments towards the changing climate in their city, we aim to improve the quality of dialogue and planning.
