Mental Well-Being

SAMA

Problem Statement

Mental health is an increasing threat for Singaporean teenagers aged between 16 to 18. Gender norms and social expectations play a key part in shaping the mindsets of youths and their ability to have open conversations regarding mental health. Currently, gender stereotypes prevent youth from seeking help. How can we encourage these youths to come forward and seek help regardless of their gender identity?

Project Description

Student Advocates for Empowerment and Awareness (SAMA) is a youth network aiming to bring youths closer to mental health issues, with a focus on gender. Through a peer-to-peer lens, we engage with youths by encouraging healthy dialogues and open conversations. Youths form the bedrock of future mindsets, so we aim to provide a platform to host difficult conversations about mental health issues and promote better understanding of all genders.
