Support for Vulnerable Groups

Bona Fide

Problem Statement

Very few Singaporeans are confident in interacting with people on the autism spectrum due to a lack of opportunities to interact with them, leading to the lack of integration of autistic people into the community.

How can we create opportunities for neurotypicals to forge genuine relationships through meaningful interactions with autistic people?

Project Description

Bona Fide aims to create opportunities for neurotypical students to interact with students with mild autism through a programme.

Similar to how CCAs function, this programme offers students complimentary classes and events to educate them on various skills and interests in Community Centres (CC). Trained volunteers will facilitate initial interactions between neurotypicals and autistic people.

This programme will be publicised to students with autism, providing a space where neurotypicals can interact with them. Through pursuing shared interests together, we hope that students will gain confidence in approaching and building genuine relationships with autistic people.
