SwapSwipe aims to create a mobile application to facilitate book exchange between readers in order to improve the shelf life of books. Through the application, users can swap or sell their books in just five simple steps (upload – swipe – match – chat – swap).
Users will be given points when they successfully exchange books and they can be used to redeem discount vouchers for environmentally friendly wares.

Launch a public invitation campaign to encourage and raise book swapping awareness. In fact, I have participated in some of these book swapping events in the past organized by shopping mall and hospital. The shortcoming of these events is the fixed time duration for book swapping at short notice. With this app, it offers flexibility and targeted interest for fellow book enthusiasts to source for recycled books, save cost and participate in sustainable living just by doing what they love - read. The app can include a point system with referral link to reward referrer whose referral makes their first book listing on the app and complete a book swap. The power from word of mouth tenders to have a wider reach and potential as bookworms knows where to look and who to tell. Set up a Whatsapp/Telegram group to highlight selective listed books with read reviews to generate interest. Generate interesting quizzes for book read with rewards that can be accumulated to exchange for rewards.

Get in touch with Carousell sellers. Carousell has one of the largest book listings in Singapore. Alternatively, you can take to social media platforms such as Instagram or Tik Tok (BookTok is where you can find avid readers to promote your app) to spread awareness of this mobile application.

Perhaps targeting schools! A lot of schools have reading programmes or in secondary schools, literature is offered with the need to purchase books. With this app, seniors / juniors can swap books!

Look at digital platforms that alrdy publish e-books: these companies would be more willing to take on book listings.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
first source of supply is important. win win for NLB and bookstores when they can clear some of the books that are not in good conditions
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Would it be possible to customise your app to enable swapping of other products, etc? For books, the use case may be limited if most books today can be digitised /most companies produce e-books. Other common items that can be swapped or shared may include fashion (e.g. clothing) and props / accessories used in production of tiktok/Instagram content (e.g. selfie sticks, tripods, ring lights, etc). There is a lot of potential for your project, all the best!

It is a very thoughtful initiative! However, as a book reader myself , one thing that draws me towards physical books is the gratification itself. The smell, flipping of the book and even the fact that it doesn’t hurt the eyes as much are some factors as well. To have physical collection of numerous books is considered to be an achievement of some sorts amongst the readers. Since the target here is the people who buy and read colossal amount of books, What can you do to convince them. Will there be any incentives for them to switch from physical books to virtual ones ?
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
maybe tie up with some pop-stations so that it is easier to swap books
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Offer the option to donate books without swapping as well with maybe lower reward as the aim of this app is book swapping. Maybe also work with school libraries, second hand bookstores and Carousell to improve the channel for finding and exchange more books.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Include a language filter on the app!!! Perhaps there could be an AI so that books on the app are catered to each user\'s preferences.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Perhaps find a measure to prevent people from falsifying their swapping credits. From what I understand, discount vouchers are redeemed from points that are earned through swapping. What is not to say that a person could create two accounts, hence swapping among themselves.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
I really like this idea, team! Perhaps, if there’s a way to also “recommend” a swapper with 5-star reviews for books in excellent condition would incentivise people to take part in the swapping, so that they have a peace of mind in swapping.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
What is the value proposition of this though? It sounds like a \"swapping\" arm of Carousell.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
I like the focus on books. I actually don\'t buy/keep much books nowadays (though I always loved reading) because I choose to borrow my books/rent them on e-book apps/Overdrive instead. But I see potential of this app as something like OLIO but focused on books instead.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
possibly think of how you can make this more appealing for usage by having reward or point system so that people will be keen to engage this service
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
idea sounds great and very achievable with books (especially in schools!). maybe add a way to verify quality of books that are eligible for swapping, because QC matters. also I\'m not sure about other things like fashion, gaming cards, and records, it might generalize the audience quite a bit, and for other items verifying quality etc is more complicated and makes a lot of difference.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Maybe there can be a pickup service,or like the concept of mobile library
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Consider the experience of those who would actually prefer to read physical books as opposed to digital copies. What\'s missing and can the experience be made up for? Why not one encourage one to visit the library and borrow a book instead of purchasing a physical copy?
