Very often, it’s not very clear how to get such micro-jobs (who to approach, who’s the employer) Many of them usually require a minimum commitment period e.g 3 months, which makes it hard to work such jobs. Would be good if it could really be by event/sign-up/adhoc basis Constantly changing bosses/colleagues resulting in differing expectations and poor work outcomes — clear SOPs should be established for each of these micro-job roles, to ensure that these jobs can be done by anyone Inclusivity — it would be great if these jobs could be opened up to more marginalised communities — physically disabled, those with intellectual disabilities, mental health conditions, ex-convicts etc. Give them a sense of dignity and not feel that these are “lesser” jobs.

You are trying to introduce a two-sided marketplace solution and hence, it is crucial for you to be crystal clear on what type of micro-job workers you are trying to attract with what particular skillsets plus benefits that will even incentivise them to participate on the jobs. You then need to look at the marketplace to see what jobs require a deliverable ‘loose’ enough that they could let an almost total stranger work on while still remunerating an amount that will incentivise the workers. How you can improve is to look into methods you can verify workers’ working ability such that micro-job listers will be able to trust their work enough to remunerate a good enough amount that will attract those verifiable skilled workers to use your solution.

I appreciate the idea of providing flexible employment to students, homemakers and seniors. One concern that I have is that the app users may not have the pre-requisite skills and knowledge to complete the task. how might the team ensure that the users have the competencies to complete the task well? Maybe one thing that the team can consider is to have trainings for specific skills like admin/personal assistant, digital marketing, telemarketing, etc. otherwise, client partners might not be satisfied with the quality of work done and leave the platform. Another concern is that language barrier and digital literacy might be a huge barrier, especially for homemakers and the elderly. This would leave perhaps majority of this target group out of reach. Maybe one thing that the team can consider is to train a small pool of homemakers and the elderly through a series of face-to-face workshops to equip them with the skills and sense of confidence for a specific job scope. this could be a pilot study/ trial.

From what I see, there seems to be a lot more details that need to be provided and more management needed compared to when listing a traditional job listing. Though it can be done out of altruism, perhaps providing an incentive for hiring organizations could help. There needs to be a wide range of jobs available for Outside to be successful, seeing that flexibility and opportunities are some of its strong selling points. Great work on the prototypes, the project has a clear objective and it definitely looks like something I’d love to see and use!

It would be nice if there are many varieties of jobs on the platform since there are many people with different kind of skills, given the pandemic where some are picking up sewing, crocheting and setting up online business on IG. as such, Outside could tap into these new group of people by offering delivery services for instance. i think it\'d be extra impressive if well-known corporations are on board as it proves a level of credibility for the platform as seniors, who are a potential target audience, will more likely be persuaded to use the app.
