How can this product be customised for various plant types and also how to overcome technological savy-ness barrier to strengthen potential appeal for older generation as well (e.g. retirees)?

Cost, maintenance, practicality of using it (e.g. does it really work with just indoor lighting and no sunlight?), evidence of produce actually growing properly

How easy or difficult is it to adopt indoor farming? Do we need to build an irrigation system for our farming needs?

Are there edible plants besides mushrooms that requires minimal sunlight indoor? The cramp space of HDB blocks and flats units often limit the sufficient access to direct sunlight that most green plants needed. Any affordable artificial sunlight solution that can help us grow our indoor food plants.

Seems like something similar to One Kind Block but with an app attached, y'all can check it out https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/onekindblock/one-kind-block-new-relaunched

Really like this idea, if the cost is reasonable (purchasing the system + electricity to maintain lighting) and maintenance is not too difficult, I'm sure most people would not mind trying this.
Also as most of us live in the heartlands, would be good if there's a space-saving design, or to demonstrate how we can place this system in our homes in a way that doesn't really disrupt our current lifestyle. May also consider suitability of leaving the system outdoors, some may wish to hang that by their balcony/ window to save space.
The design should also help with pest control (e.g. no collection of stale water that attracts mosquitoes).
Would be good if a variety of herbs/ veg can be grown on a single system as well.
Alternatively, is there a possibility to make an arrangement with HDB such that residents can utilise the roof of their HDB block to place their system. In terms of scaling the business, perhaps can consider negotiating with HDB to allow the roof space to be used for urban farming or combine it with current solar tech that can be found on some buildings to save energy also.

There are many similar products in the market, with majority requiring consumers to purchase seed packs by the company. Over time, consumers tend to lose their interest because there is the hassle of having to purchase and repurchase, and the cost may even add up - plus, it is perceived as not as easy as just getting a pot of soil and planting normal seed packets and just waiting for them to germinate and grow. In addition, what is the energy consumption of the growth lights because it may also be perceived as a hidden cost that adds up in future.

This sounds like a pretty cool idea, especially since the priorities of the Singaporean government so far has been the focus on increased local production, mostly applied to the 3 core food baskets outlined by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), leafy greens, eggs, and fish. While much of local production is initially supported by grant money and government support, a hyper-dispersed ground-up approach where homeowners take a growing degree of ownership for their food needs.
With that said, I imagine your biggest problem will be getting the right sort of tech that’s accessible and cost-effective for your home farming system, and I’m sure you are already working hard on that. So I’m going to offer suggestions for something more culture-related, if you don’t mind.
In order to change public perception of farming as a profession, we have to leverage on the recent nationwide push towards being a more food secure country and initiatives to encourage home growing like NParks’ free seed packets. These initiatives have undeniably fueled the people’s growing interest, but a clearer continuity plan is needed, alongside national infrastructure to sustain and support this interest. The goal is then to not let this interest sizzle away and stay at the hobby level but actually harness it and actualize it into a viable practice. This means leverage on more community-based outfits like City Sprouts that exposes farming to neighbourhoods and community groups. A little culture change will go a long way!

Details such as how big an area is required, whether direct sunlight is needed. These factors are sometimes logistically impossible for some households. Also it would be good to share the success rate and other success stories to encourage people to pick it up as well. Some people are not big on having green fingers and would be deterred to try. If there is a light/electric component to the product, it would be good to know if electrical consumption would be high to put people’s minds at ease.

I'm curious to find out more about the price/costs of this kit and the amount of produce that can be harvested in a stipulated time. I think these 2 factors will form the basis of anyone's decision to participate in this initiative. Also, I have been planting several veges/fruits in a plot of land rented at a park - this is very different than indoor farming. Would like to know the differences (pros and cons) or maybe if maybe we could scale up the planting at home to like in a bigger box rather than individual pots?

I'm thinking different plants would require different conditions for growth, i.e. amount of light, water, room temperature etc so it might not be possible to place them all together on a single shelf. Yet im also worried about space constraints at home. So how then might the team be looking at reconciling this and what physical support or tools would be provided? Very interesting project nonetheless!

1.Price: high cost would be an adoption barrier. 2. Product maintenance and support: is the farming system easy to maintain, what if it's spoilt, who would be support after-sale? 3.Dengue: would it be a potential dengue breeding ground 4. Quantity produced: would it produce sufficient amount of food for consumption or it will only be supplementary (because otherwise it may not be sustainable for people to use in the long run)?

the app and product looks good. it looks a lot like the Click & Grow product. But i didnt buy that product because it was too expensive. with a swanky app that seems to allow you to control the light and test pH and humidity, this seems like it would be even more expensive, and cost a few hundred dollars. this will reduce the take up rate.

I think this is a great idea. Some further information I would like to know about this product: what types of food is it able to support? Would there be special seeds etc that would need to be purchased for this product? How affordable is this product compared to purchasing produce from supermarkets? What are some upgrades to this system?

i think this is v interesting - i've always thought that there is a 'gap' in terms of getting people to grow their own crops in their HOMES! Although the volumes may not be huge, but it is a form of recreation + it gets people more connected with th food they eat. so yay! maybe you could do some projections (if every household in SG adopt your equipment, how much ___% does it help to contribute to the 30 by 30 goal)

The amount of food that this system can create in a few weeks might be only enough veges for a few meals. it does not necessarily solve the issue of food security. perhaps, the team can either change the branding and communications to reflect this reality or re-consider if this is the solution to this problem that they want to work on!! :))
