It would be good to have a step-by-step guidance system (if possible) based on options chosen by the user to really filter and narrow down what is relevant to their situation. Like through decision trees. That's if it's that easy to make things so black and white. You'd also need to consider the kind of language you use to make it easy to understand, as well as translate it into the various dialects and languages to make it accessible to all..

A central co-ordinating agency to feed all available info on aids and applications procedures. Too many aids everywhere, with many grey areas and no one really cared to help ! A well informed human caseworker is necessary to work out the appeals

I think your solution is great! many a time I have difficulties navigating govt websites. They can be just... not UI friendly and confusing to work around. Imagine the problems my parents have -- they always end up calling the hotline instead. They already have problems with the computer -- and all that lack of simplicity makes them even more frustrated!

I am fortunate to not have to applied for such schemes before. But as a writer, I have done research on such schemes, and I just feel that there's room for improvement in how information is given out -- they could be more consolidated and better organised.

Yes. It's just that there are so many different ones and information is all over the place. And the various different eligibility criteria can be confusing.

I know of many older folks who might benefit from social assistance but are either unaware or not keen to apply, preferring to get by on their own. It would be great if your solution could help them too! I think young people are more adept at finding out info, whether through google or calling MSF/FSC. Compared to older people who need more guidance and encouragement to seek social assistance. Perhaps your website could provide tools for volunteers to go through with older people on their needs and refer them to appropriate schemes/organisations for follow up?

This is a great idea, and people like my parents will be so grateful for this. Some of the websites tend to be very cluttered, and navigation is not easy at all. We don't sign up for assistance schemes, but we have the same issues with most gov websites.
Also, there are so many different schemes and all on different websites. I've always thought that it would be great to have a one-stop platform to see everything. Like you mentioned, a filter would be immensely useful. I think what would also be great is a comparison feature. As "commercial" as it may sound (like comparing phone haha). this would really come in handy for people who want to find the best scheme for themselves/their family. I mean, I think there's a limit to the number/types of schemes one can apply for, so it's understandable that people want to pick the best one. Let's help to make it easier for them!

Problem: People still tend to get lost searching on various websites for the help needed even if it is all placed in-front of them. Plus, this idea only targets those who have access to the internet, remembers their Singpass and sufficiently comfortable with the usage of the internet.
Solution: The UI/UX of the website must be clutter-free, bold, and space intelligently that addresses the user's main problem first, and then leading down the specific route like a choice map to the very help that they need, along with recommendations in case it isn't what they are looking for. Furthermore, to aid those who face the problem above, HELP LA must utilize an email system at the very least, or widgets that connect those to Singpass help, so that users can send in queries on problems that the UI cannot resolve so that a call from a social worker can follow up immediately. The same sorting solution have to also apply for the social workers as well, be it for the way they receive these helps or their database, in order for them to work efficiently and faster in sorting out problems.

Function as a well informed co-ordinating agency to matrix all the possible aids from different sources and NGO to walk the journey with the aid seeker. It is not enough to give some financial aid or food rations occasionally, without guiding the seeker out of his/her situation into a independent sustainable future. There are so many overlapping agencies providing eg food yet it is never enough for some and made hoarders out of some. The groups that help clean homes of certain vulnerable discard piles of uneaten, expired food. What is needed is a co-ordinating agecy to track the aid and the journey of vulnerable individuals.

Is there a particular group of people that you’re targeting? If so, what is their current journey? If they’re unaware of schemes, do they even manage to search for them at all? How do they find out about schemes and then decide to do more research? Do all of them end up getting access to a social worker? How can you meet them where they are? Is a website the best option? What about an analogue/paper solution that you can drop into letterboxes or pin up on notice boards or otherwise distribute physically? How will you introduce this tool to your target audience and ensure that they know about it? Beyond a description of the schemes, are you able to walk users step-by-step through the eligibility criteria and application process?

This solution is awesome in my opinion! one of the best ones after looking through all the solutions on the projects :) Areas to improve on is definitely having good software engineers who are able to steamline the automation process where by let's say a user (young adult who wants to BTO) is looking for relevant information, the website is able to ask relevant information to filter out what are the schemes that are appropriate for the user, and the information has to be relevant, accurate and up to date to prevent the user from actually missing out on substantial grants.

The solution is great! However, I do think that there will be a problem in accessibility. Knowing that these are low-income households, their exposure to the technological appliances like a laptop or even a smart phone is limited. Even so, with the access to the internet and smart technology, assuming that your target audience is the current working adults or the elder community, we have to take note of the usability of the website. Ensuring that the website have a simple user interface, where users can navigate around without feeling restricted or lost. Last but not least, knowing that most Singaporeans in the Baby Boomers and even Gen Y's generation communicate using a range of languages and dialects, the website should be able to accommodate to this need. Perhaps having different languages printed out and probably having the option to select different dialects on audio to describe the contents of the website (rough idea).

Personally I have not applied for one before, but given the amount of paperwork and requirements needed - it poses a challenge to genuine applicants given their lack of knowledge and time. If this project can integrated Singpass - it can automatically prompt individuals based on their salary and spending habits.

The problem we have today - is different groups of people are directed to very different websites to learn about government social assistance schemes. Previously, I needed information on financial aid for 'start-ups' in Singapore and had a "hunch" that our government might have such schemes. It was only through proactive searching that I found grants by Enterprise Singapore.

This is an interesting project with huge potential in my opinion given the numerous government assistance schemes available, but the people who need it do not have perfect knowledge of it. To ensure high uptake of the program, it would be wise to partner with various government bodies - NTUC Income, Enterprise SG, Skillsfuture etc to proactively reach out to existing databases of users. Access with Singpass should also be made mandatory for login - this way, individuals or groups will not just be required to proactive search for schemes, but the project can provide prompts of relevant schemes based on their salary monthly, per capita household income and spending habits.

I remember supporting a youth in the community whose family had to run through a whole gamut of organisations/websites/telephone numbers to even figure out the right sort of help they need, so a project like this sounds REALLY promising! With that said, I also understand that MSF has spent much of 2019-2020 focusing on their 3CSD framework which seeks to help the government's service delivery be convenient, coordinated, and comprehensive. I don't know the ins-and-outs of the government's work on this front, but it really sounds as though there might be significant overlap or room for collaboration? My simple feedback would be to figure out if/how you can collaborate with the ministries that are already working on this, so as to avoid duplicated services :-)

I think it is a great idea. If you could provide clear instructions on how to submit forms in all four main languages ain written form and audio, I think it would be even better. Also, you could add a function where you could add a forum where users can share their experience, it would help in getting feedback and also others would know the website is helpful and reliable.
