Problem Statement

Food waste is one of the biggest streams of waste in Singapore, and the majority of food that is thrown away is uncooked produce, amounting to a whooping 26000 tonnes, as of 2019. Despite so, there remains a lack of awareness surrounding this issue along with a lack of public education on proper recyling methods for these types of food, such as peels, rinds and more. How can we reduce the barrier for Singaporeans to engage in pro-food recycling acts, giving wasted food a new lease of life?

Project Description

Bleaf aims to target food waste, by focusing on the back-end production of food products that are unwanted.

Their approach includes taking repurposing food wastage into usable paper products for people to purchase, such as notebooks. This transforms the supposed end-of-life path for food waste and allows it to be used in meaningful ways.
