Kaya Toast

Problem Statement

With declining birth rates, Singapore increasingly relies on newcomers to help shoulder the economic burden. Today, among the 5.7 million people living in Singapore, around 2.52 million of them are foreigners. Yet, how many of them feel they are truly a part of Singaporean society? Making up such a large component of our society, how can we develop experiences or activities to help these newcomers adapt to our local culture and connect with the local communities?

Project Description

Project Kaya Toast aims to aid newcomers in better integrating into Singapore’s society by helping in the expansion of their social circle and introducing them to the basic aspects of Singapore culture. Acting as a platform to connect the locals and newcomers, we match newcomers with locals of similar interests and backgrounds and give them opportunities to form close bonds and learn more about one another. We hope that deeper connections between the locals and newcomers will be forged through our breakfast sessions and wide range of curated activities.
