Singapore has about 70,000 cleaners but litter remains a real problem in Singapore.
As Singapore grows denser, how do we encourage good citizenship in waste management?

Stridy aims to build a self-sustaining community that is motivated to pick up after themselves and others.
Through the Stridy app, the team will encourage fun opportunities to “unlitter” our world. Users can go on “unlittering” journeys individually or with friends and family, where they can head out and log any stray piece of litter that they find and collect. The application will also have a Redemption function where users can pledge the points they have earned towards conservation and sustainability projects around the world.

The feel-good after the event would make me want to go. Whether I\'m able to go with friends. Am I given any incentives? Would I need to pay? These are all factors I would take into consideration. But what would motivate me the most is if I could visually see what to expect from a clean up and the whole process, so that I know what I\'m getting myself into and that I really want it.

In response to "How Can We Improve?"
i would suggest to integrate this with the one service app, and RC folks, so that outreach can be better
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
I think one way your team could improve would be to incorporate a feature / collaborate with existing governmental organisations to incentivise or encourage people to download your app in the first place. Being able to track and visualise their contribution might only appeal to those who are more environmentally conscious. In contrast, there is a lack of appeal for the rest to actually download and utilize the app. Perhaps your team could liaise with governmental organisations and position your app such that it can serve as a bridge between both apps. For example, you could add in a feature to transport people to an external site regarding the environment. Also, how do you ensure that your app won’t become obsolete / buried under the mountain of other apps each of us download? For example, apps like running tracker are often used only during runs. How do you ensure that users will constantly check and track their efforts on your app? How do you ensure that your app won’t just be a passing fad? Perhaps your team could include features like games (eg shopee bubbles) that could attract users to keep going back and checking on it. Also, by adding games and including a point system which could then be used to redeem things from partnering organisations, people might spend more time on your app and would end up seeing and tracking their contributions more frequently.

I would say that a possible way to upscale your idea and extend your reach would be to really harness the power of social media to complement your application. Film the whole process of a clean up, show your audience where your litter ends up, and if I use your app, how much litter I would be saving, Do a little social experiement. These are things that would appeal to the emotions and people and you could even consider cognitive dissonance as a means to get more people to use ur app, and think about their habits in general!
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Look at the possible loopholes of the application. AI detection of item (what I assume you will be using) may be inaccurate in discerning products. Is there any incentives? What if I scan a product twice? Great idea but needs some refining in certain areas.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
It may be useful to collaborate with bigger organisations with influential power to kickstart the project, such as healthhub or even sg environmental council. The app looks simple to use and is meaningful.

What you guys are is what we need! A lot of the people so-called do not care about being environmentally friendly coz they think one person’s actions won’t bring a major consequence. We have to change that. You guys can focus on bringing the problem closer to them by giving visuals of how much carbon footprint they leaving and therefore the harm they have directly done to the planet. For example - they kill like a turtle for every plastic bag they waste ( something like that)
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
I think being able to organise activities and gather people would help maintain an active community on the site. Working with others can often give individuals the push they need to participate in protecting the environment and also ensure continuity in the long run. Having participated in litter picking events, I would like to raise some uncertainty about the efficiency of quantifying every item picked up. In places like the beach, there are many small pieces of plastics strewn around. Thus, I cannot imagine myself using the app to increase the count every time I pick up a piece of litter. It will eventually frustrate me at some point. I remember that we had recorded the contribution by total weight of rubbish collected.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
can consider to tie up with Health Living App since caring for our environment is also caring for our health
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
This is a great idea - but still a bit vague at this stage. More definition in how you intend to achieve these goals and avoid this being \"just another app\" would be good!
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Public exposure seems like a good place to start. One of the main aims is to get an influx of people engaged in eco-friendly activities but from what I have read, the mobile application primarily targets people who are aware or already have some degree of interest in protecting the environment. While this is good, another aspect that can be focused on is getting the general public, who might or might now have any interest in waste management, to get behind this cause. By increasing the quantity of active participants, you will be able to empower more individuals through technology.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
While a noble idea, it may not garner a lot of traction beyond those who are already into events like coastal clean ups, and even these are organised on an ad-hoc basis. The root of the problem would be to understand why people litter, and that could be something the team can consider tackling too.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
I like the idea of plogging/Beach clean-ups as a social activity. Maybe can partner with apps like susGain for members to earn points rather than needing to build your own platform.
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Since this is a mobile app for litter picking etc, maybe the distance/area covered to clean up can be tracked by the location services, and it could be an interactive software whereby there are \'flower\' icons wherever the area was cleaned up? Something animate like this may encourage the younger generation to step in to clean up and develop mindful habits too! :) - Singi Das, singi.das.7@gmail.com
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
showing before and after statistics, maybe in the form of graphics (like how we have red/yellow/green zone for dengue, we could have a similar concept for the amount of thrash in areas) also, I think we can define the scope of the clean up (beach clean up, road side, etc etc)
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Partner with organisations to better recycle and utilise waste for advance recycling etc
In response to "How Can We Improve?"
Being able to see the trail of everyone\'s clean-up path (like those trackers in the running app) in the community would let the rest of the community can see which location were less frequent by.
