Problem Statement

Singapore’s fast-paced, highly competitive culture has resulted in high levels of stress. The situation has only gotten worse with COVID-19, as 1 in 10 Singaporeans report mild to severe stress.

How can we empower more youth to support their peers who are suffering from mental health issues?

Project Description

Greenbox aims to be a platform that brings together holistic solutions to companies that lack expertise in mental health initiatives.

The team will develop a mobile application that will provide mental wellness resources to employees such as mindfulness and self-care workshops. The application will also help to build open dialogue on mental wellbeing within the workplace which will contribute to stronger peer support ecosystems in the long run. Lastly, employees can also suggest changes to their workspaces to meet their wellness needs which will be channelled to their employers for action.

The feautre of taking a picture of my desk and me getting a recomendation is something I am very interested to know more about. Scrolling through pinterest looking at study desks and not knowing how to improve mine, is something I face (and i assume others face as well). This would be the main feature I would use often.

A great addition to this application could be a section where people can post their transformations and their own tips they have taken from the app! Having this “shared” area, will help the community to gain inspiration from one another and be able to educated on the benefits gained and motivated to do the same! It is always great to see how others have transformed their spaces. Also, a great opportunity could be going into partnerships with shops. For example, if one of the solution is to get potted plants for the table which increases greenery and freshness in the room. There could be suggestions linking to shops that sell those plants (this could be in partnership with the team itself).

The idea reminds me of Korean interior design which is focusing on interior design. At the same time, they also share their study table ideas which it can be helpful. So, you can look up some of the inspiration that can help others to recreate their Space (I believe copyright is a must but I hope it is still possible to do). Sometimes, there will be someone who feel insecure to see other people\'s space that looks more comfy than theirs. That is why, you have to make sure that your platform is keeping them well for the saké of mental health. Make an anonymous user is one of the solution to avoid that.

I love this idea as it gives me inspiration how I can level-up my study spaces! I would suggest the team to consider an option to match Study Buddies in the same location. As some individuals lack the luxury to have their own study space at home, they may prefer heading out to study. The app can find individuals that stays near each other to find a common area to study together. Also, the team can pair up with businesses to give \"Student Deals\" for students to study and dine at the cafe/study spots!

For youths from the lower income families, it is very likely their homes are very small and they are sharing space with their family members. They\'ll probably not use the app for evaluating their space since it is not really \"their space\" or they get even more upset after the app suggest changes but they can\'t do it.

I like the idea - our environment affects how we think and feel. It seems to be lacking in features right now. Perhaps something to sort the images or to curate them so that people who wish to give feedback can? What are the incentives for people to give good, workable opinions and building a community on the app? It might be good to list down all the functions or outcomes you want from the app and developing it into a user flow to plan out the experience, giving hierarchy to those that you think are more important. What does the hamburger menu in the top left do? On a more graphic design side of things, the icons in the bottom are inconsistent in both sizing and thickness. A book icon (for the resources) would be better suited to your purpose that the informational (i) icon!

I really love your idea as I am very sure I will use this app as well. It is very true that study space has to be in a certain way for a lot of people to study and even relax peacefully. However, we are often clueless as to how we can do that since we might not know where to start, or what to buy. I suggest that you guys could bring in some professional into this project who can give advice on redesigning. And if you guys manage to do that, you can also charge people for that service. Something reasonable $50-100. Coz it might be a good investment for your users as well. In this way you could also make sure if sustainability of the company.

This is really interesting! I think that even offices and home renovations can benefit from the \"modify learning spaces\" feature that you come up with; depends on how scalable the technology you adopt is. I see no mention of this so far in your project description but you could create a microjob opportunity for people to redesign their rooms and explain why they placed their things that way, and also create a channel for such creators to benefit from affiliate marketing. Would be really cool if you made this a trendy thing on tiktok too (see my room revamp; before --> after \"sparkly video filter+slow-mo\") Would really love to try out the app when it\'s launched, I can help beta test too :D

This is a pretty nice idea! Perhaps you could extend it into bullet journaling too since bullet journaling is an avenue to declutter the mental thoughts and bullet journaling is quite popular amongst study accounts on Instagram or Pinterest nowadays.

The concept is good but I am wondering if what works for one person, may not necessarily work for another. Also, would there be an over-promotion for certain equipment or tools if many people have shared that they have used it and found it to be useful? For example, many of my friend share that their tables with adjustable heights was a lifesaver. However, I find the price to be too steep for me and would like a more affordable option. Also, would there be filters stopping influencers from promoting certain products on this app?

Photos / Inspiration - May need to also have other social media accounts to increase the reach of this stand-alone phone application. I think IG or TikTok may work since the proposed is quite Visual (in terms of photos), chat space (maybe?) Workshops and events will be fun! Can consider to have a regular programming so that users can look forward to gathering virtually or in person, as well as interacting with others to form a connection. Can collaborate with other platforms like NLB perhaps? Recommendation / Feedback function - got to moderate to prevent \'abuse\' of this feedback / recommendation by unkind remarks...

I think it’s a good idea but one potentially big challenge is the inertia preventing users from downloading the app to use it to improve study spaces. I think there is a possibility that users would simply just google or watch YouTube for study space inspiration since these resources are easily accessible. And let’s say they do improve the study space - what’s next? The app needs more functions to sustain its use. While the team tried to solve this problem by introducing the mental wellness events, this seems to take away the app’s initial focus on study spaces, so it may be slightly confusing for potential users to figure out what exactly the app is supposed to be about.

I like how this project is driven by research that one\'s physical environment can affect one\'s mental health. but the idea of uploading a picture of one\'s messy table to let other people see and give feedback on might not be something that most youth would resonate with. personally, i wont not want others to see my table - my personal space and give me comments on it... I know it is supposed to be tidy. I think most people know that a well-packed study table would make them feel better about themselves - the issue might be that they don\'t feel motivated to keep it tidy. perhaps the issue might then be procrastination or hoarding mentality(keep just in case) or they don\'t know of packing hacks (marie condo ahhaha) - these could be explored through more interviews and fact-checking before reaching an appropriate problem statement!! there is also a chance that people with mental health issues or simply stress or anxious about life\'s challenges might cause them to have an untidy environment... in this case, helping them with whatever is causing them stress might be more important!

1. This is a brilliant idea with lots of potential for strong impact (not to mention commercial viability). The tech piece seems critical -- how will the recommendations be generated based on the photos? This seems like a place where machine vision and learning can come in helpful (though perhaps a chatbot might be an easier place to start if you are to bring this into practice i.e. users answer a quiz). 2. I love that you allow viewers to book workshops and get links to curated resources. I think you can go further. Specific to the relationship between space and mental health, I think you could also link to products and services that users may find helpful (e.g. simple interventions like a dry-erase white board to keep track of one\'s schedule). This seems like a project with potential for a strong nexus between social impact and profitability. 3. Your problem statement is a little generic at the moment -- sharpen it to more clearly focus on study spaces, and then ground this in a review of relevant literature.

A list of items in the picture taken would be helpful to others who wish to purchase some items they like. Maybe allowing a more interactive AR/VR of the study space instead of static picture would be nice!

More app functions and informations like showing recommendations of other public study spaces that people can consider for alternative way to find a better study space. Because sometimes not having a conducive study space does not result in the design of the room space in their homes but other factors like having younger siblings or other family members that resulted distractions and non conducive environment for them to study in their homes. Additionally, after uploading images of my study space and having others to write in feedback of improvement about my study space, after which what do you expect the users to do? Remake/renovate their room? Because it seems like to me, more of a public interior design consultation app instead of having a 1 to 1 interior designer consultation of a room makeover.
