Experiment Purposefully aims to guide and support young professionals aged 28-35 in their career transitions.
The team will first match users with mentors who are experienced professionals in industries they are interested in. Following that, the team will support the Mentor-Mentee experience by helping them structure their mentorship intention and action plans by conducting briefing and training sessions. The team will also do monthly check-ins with both mentor and mentee to ensure the Mentor-Mentee experience is going smoothly.

based on my observation, I think one core issue seems to be that we place too much emphasis on our \"chosen\" career. From a wider angle, it may be better to reduce societal pressure on career growth, and societal norms that one is expected to be in the same field for a long time. Besides offering support and networking opportunities, some effort can go towards destigmatising career/field-hopping and outlining the benefits of working across different sectors. Not every job needs to be a \"step up\" in climbing the career ladder, but they all add to our learning journey and help to expand our horizon. (The classic case would be Steve Jobs who took calligraphy class in school, which helped shape his vision when designing Apple products to be the sleek brand it is now). We should encourage our youth to be adventurous and dare to fail, and not feel they have to adhere to some kind of societal norms in their career.

Team may wish to review what it means by \"transition\" which seems to be used in the context of transitioning into a job versus transitioning between jobs. If the former, team may wish to clarify the value add of the proposed platform over existing platforms that seek to fulfill similar functions. It may be helpful to scope the project narrowly to students facing the challenge of finding their college degrees less relevant for what they plan on doing.

Having a mentor is useful for us to discover our strength and weakness but we may not always have interest in areas that we r strong on. Mentor would need to be interactive enough for us to go deep into discussion to see what best suit us.

I am really Glad that you guys are doing this especially as a person who is taking a different route than others. If you guys wish to expand your project, you can also think about people who take a GAP year or choose not to attend University. These are some of the toughest and brave decisions a lot of people take and it’s very easy for us to feel really alone especially when people around us take a different path than us. All the best!

Actually people are now a lot more adventurous in venturing out from paths that they’ve studied. I think often times, mentorship can be quite forceful and it’s not sustainable over the long-term. Would be great just to have more opportunities where people can explore without having too much to lose

Great prototype! You might want to look into how you can differentiate yourself from the dozens other solutions out there trying to match mentors and mentees. Even within government bodies and initiatives, this type of matching is already being done. Perhaps instead of trying to launch yet another platform that will match mentors to mentees, what about considering a unique ‘plug-and-play’ solution that will help those already existing platforms do a better job?

I appreciate that the team aims to guide youths in their transition from school to work and find their statistic that \"79% of young professionals in Singapore consider a career outside their field of study\" especially surprising!! one concern is the competency of the career facilitators. are the career facilitators also volunteers? perhaps there can be a volunteer/career facilitation training for the career facilitators before they start working with the youths!! Perhaps, this problem is a problem that does not required solving. Maybe one thing that the team can consider is to do further research into how youths navigate this space of careers and whether they already have the resources to make a transition to jobs beyond their field of study. personally, I know friends in mechanical engineering that end up in coding jobs after graduating. they have done so without much difficulty. perhaps interviewing such people to better understand what went well for them might be helpful! Also, it might be good to speak to the career centres in various universities and IHLs to explore collaborations or as part of the research process to understand the needs better!!

I think the whole concept is super relatable and fills a gap that educational institutions have in todays system. There is definite need to bridge real life work and industry experience with university curriculums. I think the platform can allow these individuals to perform personality’ tests and input their MDTI type or enneagram type. This would allow potential mentors to understand them better to guide them in the career path. And since industries have become so diversified, it can help mentors identify where this young person would best be fit for and contribute effectively.

I think you guys can improve by partnering with local educational institutions to improve your offerings and also having more talks and webinars by those career professionals, staff from these institutions so that people who want a change in career path can actually attend and glean useful insights from people who are already in the industry itself. This platform can also partner with a local startup called Skilio who uses technology to let users to have a skills based report which allows them to know their strengths/weaknesses/personality traits as well as interests so that they are more well informed on which industries and career paths will suit them.

Perhaps, users could identify questions that they would like help for so that the mentor could prepare before going for the meeting. Profile of mentor / mentee could be shown so that mentor-mentee fit could be better established. Frequent check-ins could be set-up so that mentees are kept on track. Differentiating factor is crucial (could gamify? could establish rewards system for mentors so that they are willing to participate as a mentor?)
